Disaster and Emergency Supply Kit
Store your kit in accessible locations at home, at work and in your vehicle. Kit should include
food, water, flashlights, portable radios, batteries, a first aid kit, cash, extra medications, a
whistle, fire extinguisher, etc. Plan to survive on your own for a minimum of THREE days after an
emergency. Have food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least three
days. BASIC SERVICES such as electricity, gas, water, sewage treatment, and telephones may be cut
off for days, or even a week or longer. Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene
after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone immediately. You could get help in hours, or it
might take days.
